2019 was the year of skincare (hallelujah!). It seems like last year (kind of funny to say) people were having fun with beauty, learning how to treat their skin with care, covering less their face with heavy makeup and showing off their own beauty. But with the blooming of skincare comes the challenge of sorting through an almost infinite of products available out there. I often find myself often checking out beauty product reviews on youtube or on Influenster by real people (read not sponsored) to discover what is just a hype and what is a score. That’s why I rounded up what I believe are the best skin care products of 2019. So, let’s dive into it.
BEST VITAMIN C GOES TO…
LUMENE VALO NORDIC-C GLOW BOOST ESSENCE
Here is the truth, I’m a newbie in the skincare world but in the past year, I decided to finally care of my skin. I wanted to learn more about skincare products and ingredients. I was looking for products with antioxidant components and searching on Amazon I found this mix of vitamin C and hyaluronic acid by Lumene and I decided to try it out. To be quite honest I really can’t tell if the antioxidants actually work and I probably never will. I’m just 27 and how my skin will look in the future might be a result of my skincare, the foods I eat, my sun exposure and so on. But what I like about this product is the gorgeous glowy effect and nice texture it gives to my skin (and the wonderful citric smell). I like to apply this product before applying makeup to ensure my skin will look healthy and glowy (millennial goals, right?).
BEST HYDRATING CREAM FOR DRY SKIN EVER GOES TO…
WELEDA SKIN FOOD ORIGINAL ULTRA-RICH CREAM
I don’t really like the expression must-have but the Weleda Skin Food certainly falls in this category for me right now. Let me explain, I have been living in the midwest of the US for a few years and in this region, winter is really harsh. The cold wind makes my skin suffer, it gets extremely dry. So, I was looking for a great rich cream for a while and I finally found it. Yep, Weleda Skin Food is a great multi-use cream (as Bepantol was for me when I was living in Brazil). This cream is really thick (designed for hands, elbows, and feet) which might be tricky. I actually like to apply on my hands and face because it truly moistures my skin (thanks to the sweet almond oil and sunflower oil hydrating properties) and it creates a protective barrier for the cold days. I like to use it before I go to bed due to its sticky and shiny/oily texture or before applying makeup because it hydrates my skin, acts as a primer and makes my skin shine (just the right amount) even after applying matte foundation. I also like to wear the Weleda Skin Food as a highlighter and lip balm. Is there anything better than a multi-use product? (Yes, food, sleep, s..).
BEST PRODUCT FOR DRY, CHAPPED LIPS GOES TO…
AQUAPHOR HEALING OINTMENT BABY
I know this category is unexpected and might sound weird but that is the description I could find (note to myself|please, increase your vocabulary). I found this product almost by accident, I use to use some strong cleaning products at home and just after a house cleaning my hands started to peel off like never before. So, I went to Walgreens and I started to look for products to help my skin to heal faster when I read “dry, chapped, irritated skin” and “relieves diaper rash within 6h” I knew it would do the job and I was absolutely right (as always- not so true).
Well, Aquaphor not only worked for dry, peeling off, degusting hands back them but on my dry feet and it works incredibly well for when my lips are really dry. I usually apply a thin layer on lips when they are chapped and sore, I wait a few minutes, rub my lips, my lips peel off and feel sooth once again.
That’s it folk! Those are my favorites skincare products. They are not all the products that I’m currently using but they are certainly my favorites skincare products of 2019. If you try them out, comment on this post or send me a DM on Instagram and let me know your thoughts. Also, let me know your little treasures I always up to try new product recommendations so I don’t need to waste money.
-Have a glowy new year!
